Acceptable Use Policy

This policy applies to everyone who uses Vuru, whether or not they have an account, and to everything they do here: submissions, reviews, comments, community posts, votes, messages and automated access.

It forms part of our Terms of Service. Where this policy and the Terms overlap, both apply.

The short version: submit real products, write honest reviews, argue about the work rather than the person, and do not try to game the rankings.

Do not post, submit or link to:

• Anything unlawful, or that promotes unlawful activity.
• Sexual content involving minors, in any form. We report this to the relevant authorities without exception.
• Content that harasses, threatens, bullies or incites violence against a person or group.
• Hate speech targeting people by race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or any comparable characteristic.
• Content encouraging self-harm, suicide or disordered eating.
• Doxxing — publishing someone's private information without consent, including home address, personal phone number or identity documents.
• Non-consensual intimate imagery, and sexual content generally.
• Malware, phishing pages, or links to either.
• Material infringing someone else's copyright, trade mark or other rights.

Do not:

• Create multiple accounts to vote, review, evade a restriction or appear to be several people.
• Impersonate another person, company or product, or claim a product you did not make.
• Buy, sell, trade or solicit votes, reviews or ratings.
• Use scripts, bots or automation to vote, post or submit.
• Coordinate vote exchanges with other makers, in any venue.
• Post a review of your own product, or of a direct competitor, without disclosing the relationship.
• Spam — repetitive posting, unsolicited promotion, or comments that exist only to place a link.
• Submit a product that does not exist, is not yours to submit, or is a thin wrapper resubmitted repeatedly under new names.

Do not:

• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, other accounts, or any connected system.
• Probe, scan or test the security of the site without prior written permission.
• Circumvent rate limits, authentication or any access control.
• Scrape at a rate that degrades the service, or ignore our robots directives.
• Interfere with the site's normal operation, or impose an unreasonable load on it.
• Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code beyond what is publicly served.

If you find a security vulnerability, we would like to know. Email hello@vuru.online with the details and give us a reasonable opportunity to fix it before disclosing publicly. We will not pursue anyone who reports a genuine issue in good faith and does not exploit it beyond what is needed to demonstrate it.

Reasonable, well-behaved automated access is acceptable: identify yourself with a real user agent, respect our robots directives, stay within a request rate that does not affect other users, and cache rather than refetching.

Bulk extraction of our data to build a competing directory is not acceptable, and neither is any automated voting or posting.

We publish a sitemap index at /sitemap.xml precisely so that crawlers do not need to guess. Use it.

Where we find a breach, our response is proportionate to what happened. Depending on severity and history, we may:

• Remove the content, and tell you why.
• Remove votes or reset a ranking affected by manipulation.
• Rate-limit or temporarily restrict an account.
• Suspend or permanently close an account, and decline future submissions.
• Block an address or network.
• Report the matter to law enforcement, where it involves a serious crime.

Serious breaches — illegal content, security attacks, coordinated manipulation — can result in immediate permanent closure without a warning.

We get things wrong. If your content was removed or your account restricted and you think that was a mistake, reply to the notice or email hello@vuru.online explaining why.

A person reviews appeals, not an automated system. If we made an error we will reverse it and say so.

We will not usually reverse a decision about content that clearly breaches this policy, however persuasively the appeal is written.

To report content or behaviour that breaches this policy, email hello@vuru.online with a link to the page and a short description of the problem.

For anything involving an immediate risk to someone's safety, contact your local emergency services first. We can remove a post; we cannot send help.
