Advertising Disclosure

How this site makes money, what a sponsor can buy, and the things that are not for sale.

Last updated 31 August 2026

1. Why this page exists

A directory that ranks products and takes money from some of them has an obvious conflict of interest. The only useful response is to say plainly where the money comes from and what it does not buy.

This page is that statement. It is written to be checkable: everything described here is something you can verify by looking at the site.

Disclosure is also a legal requirement in most places we operate. Advertising and endorsements must be identifiable as advertising, and material connections must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously.

2. How we make money

Vuru may earn revenue in the following ways:

  • Display advertising served by a third-party network, including Google AdSense.
  • Sponsored placements, which are labelled where they appear.
  • Partner links in the sidebar, marked as sponsored.
  • Affiliate commission, where a link earns us a share of a sale at no extra cost to you.

Where a link earns us money, it carries a rel="sponsored" attribute so that both readers and search engines can identify it as commercial.

3. What is not for sale

This is the important half. No amount of money buys any of the following:

  • A ranking position. Rankings come from upvotes and activity, calculated automatically, and there is no manual override for advertisers.
  • A review score, or the removal of a negative review.
  • Deletion of a competitor's listing.
  • Favourable placement in a category, in search results or in the products carousel.
  • Editorial coverage in our blog, or a mention in a category description.
  • Removal of the sponsorship label from anything that is sponsored.

If anyone offers you these on our behalf, they are not authorised to. Tell us at hello@vuru.online.

4. How sponsored content is labelled

Anything paid for is marked, in a way visible on the page rather than buried in a policy:

  • Partner links carry a heading identifying them as partners, and a rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute.
  • Sponsored listings, where offered, are labelled as such next to the listing itself.
  • Display advertising is served in clearly delineated ad slots, distinct from editorial content.
  • Affiliate links are disclosed on the page where they appear, not only here.

We do not use advertising formats designed to be mistaken for editorial content, and we do not place ads inside the flow of an article in a way that reads as our own writing.

5. Google AdSense

Where we serve advertising through Google AdSense, the following disclosures apply, as Google requires of its publishers:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com.
  • You may opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we obtain consent before setting advertising cookies, consistent with Google's EU User Consent Policy. Our authorised sellers are declared in the ads.txt file at the root of this domain.

Google selects which ads appear; we do not, beyond the category-level controls the platform provides. An advertisement appearing here is not an endorsement by us, and we may not have seen it.

6. Editorial independence

Our blog posts, category descriptions and ranking documentation are written without input from advertisers. Nobody buys a sentence.

Where we mention a product in editorial writing, it is because it illustrates a point. If we ever write about a product with which we have a commercial relationship, we will say so in that piece.

Our writing about launch platforms includes our competitors, and we try to describe them fairly, including where they are a better choice than us. A directory that only ever recommends itself is not worth reading.

7. Advertising standards

We decline advertising for things we consider harmful or misleading, whatever it pays. That includes:

  • Products making unsubstantiated health, financial or earnings claims.
  • Adult content, gambling aimed at minors, and anything unlawful in the markets we serve.
  • Deceptive download buttons, fake system warnings and similar dark patterns.
  • Advertising that impersonates our interface or is designed to be mistaken for site content.
  • Cryptocurrency schemes promising returns.

Where advertising is served programmatically we do not see every creative in advance. If you see an ad here that breaches this list, report it to hello@vuru.online with a screenshot and we will block it.

8. For advertisers

If you want to sponsor a placement, email hello@vuru.online. We will tell you what is available, what it costs, and how it will be labelled.

We will not agree to anything requiring us to conceal the commercial relationship, to alter a ranking, or to suppress a review. Please do not ask.

We reserve the right to decline any advertiser without giving a reason, and to end an arrangement if a product turns out to be misrepresented.

9. Questions

If anything on this site looks like undisclosed advertising, tell us at hello@vuru.online and we will either label it or remove it. We would rather hear it from you than have a reader quietly conclude the rankings are for sale.
