Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us: what you may do here, what we may do, and where the limits sit.
Last updated 31 August 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and Vuru covering your use of this website and everything on it. By visiting the site, creating an account, submitting a product, voting, reviewing or posting, you accept these terms in full.
If you do not accept them, do not use the site. Continued use after a change to these terms means you accept the revised version.
Last updated 31 August 2026. Where these terms refer to "we", "us" or "our", they mean Vuru; "you" means the person or organisation using the site.
2. What this site is
Vuru is a directory and community. Makers submit products; readers browse, upvote, review and discuss them. Rankings are produced automatically from that activity, as described on the How ranking works page.
We are a platform, not a shop. We do not build, own, sell, licence, host, endorse, warrant or support the products listed here. Any transaction, subscription, download or agreement arising from a listing is strictly between you and that product's operator, and we are not a party to it.
A listing on this site is not a recommendation, a certification, a security review or a statement that the product works as claimed. It is a directory entry, largely written by the product's own maker.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use this site, or older where your country sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services — 16 in parts of the European Economic Area. By creating an account you confirm you meet that threshold.
If you use the site on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it to these terms, and "you" includes that organisation.
You may not use the site if you are barred from doing so under the laws of your country or of the country from which the site is operated, or if we have previously terminated your account.
4. Your account
You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password confidential, use one you do not use elsewhere, and tell us at hello@vuru.online as soon as you suspect unauthorised access.
Provide accurate registration information and keep it current. Do not create an account for anyone else without their permission, do not impersonate a person or organisation, and do not create multiple accounts to evade a restriction or to manipulate rankings.
You may close your account at any time. Closing it removes your profile and personal information as described in the Privacy Policy, but does not oblige us to remove content whose removal would break threads other people contributed to; where that applies we may keep the content and detach your name from it.
5. Submitting a product
When you submit a product you confirm that:
- You are the maker, or you are authorised by the maker to submit it.
- You own or have the right to use everything you upload, including logos, screenshots, video and copy.
- The description is accurate and not misleading, including any claim about pricing, availability or capability.
- The product does not do anything prohibited by our Acceptable Use Policy.
- Any deal or discount you advertise is genuine, and you will honour it for the period stated.
You keep ownership of what you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting purposes, publish and display it on and in connection with the site, including in listings, search results, feeds, newsletters and social previews. This licence exists so we can operate the site and lasts while the content is published here, plus a reasonable period afterwards for backups and caches.
We may edit a submission for formatting, correct an obvious error, recategorise it, or decline or remove it entirely. We are not obliged to publish anything.
6. Reviews, comments and community posts
Reviews must reflect genuine personal experience of the product. Do not review your own product, a competitor's product, or a product you were paid or otherwise induced to review without disclosing that plainly in the review itself.
Community threads and replies are subject to the same rules. Discuss the product, disagree freely, and do not attack the person.
You keep ownership of what you write, and grant us the same licence described above so we can display it.
We may remove any contribution that breaches these terms or our Content Policy, and we may restrict or close accounts that do so repeatedly. Where we remove something, we will normally tell you why.
7. Voting and ranking integrity
Rankings only mean anything if votes are real. The following are prohibited:
- Creating or controlling more than one account to vote.
- Buying, selling, trading or soliciting votes, reviews or ratings.
- Using scripts, bots or automation to vote or post.
- Coordinating vote exchanges, whether through a group chat, a mailing list or an agreement with another maker.
- Offering anything of value in return for a vote or a positive review.
Asking people who genuinely use your product to take a look is fine and expected. The line is whether the person voting has an honest opinion of the product.
Where we detect manipulation we may remove the votes, reset a ranking, remove the listing, close the accounts involved, and decline future submissions. We do not owe a refund, compensation or an explanation of our detection methods.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use the site to do anything unlawful, and you must not:
- Post material that is defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, obscene, or that promotes violence or self-harm.
- Post sexual content involving minors, or any other content whose existence is itself illegal.
- Infringe anybody's copyright, trade mark, patent, trade secret, privacy or other rights.
- Distribute malware, or link to a page that does.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, other accounts, or any connected system.
- Probe, scan or test the site's security without our prior written permission.
- Scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, or ignore our robots directives.
- Impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or interfere with its normal operation.
- Remove or obscure any proprietary notice on the site.
Our Acceptable Use Policy sets these out in more detail and forms part of these terms.
9. Our content and yours
The site itself — its design, layout, code, editorial writing, category descriptions, blog articles, graphics and the Vuru name — belongs to us or is used with permission, and is protected by copyright and other laws.
You may link to any public page here. You may quote short extracts for review, criticism, news reporting or comment, with attribution and a link. You may not copy substantial parts of the site, republish our editorial content, or create a derivative directory from our data without written permission.
Content submitted by users belongs to those users. If you want to reuse somebody's review or product description, ask them, not us.
10. Third-party links and products
The site is full of links to other websites, which is the point of a directory. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, their security, their pricing, their privacy practices or anything you do on them.
Sponsored placements and partner links are marked as such and are described on our Advertising Disclosure page. A sponsorship never buys a ranking position or a favourable review.
Before you buy, subscribe to, download or install anything you found through this site, check it yourself. Read the seller's terms, read their privacy policy, and satisfy yourself that it does what it claims.
11. Availability and changes to the service
We provide the site on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change, suspend, restrict or discontinue any part of it — including features, categories, ranking rules and this policy — at any time, with or without notice.
We do not guarantee any level of uptime. The site may be unavailable for maintenance, because of a fault, or because of something outside our control.
We may impose limits on submissions, votes, reviews, requests or storage, and may change those limits.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of viruses; that the information on it is accurate, complete or current; or that any product listed here is safe, lawful, functional or suitable for you.
Nothing on this site is professional advice. Our blog, category writing and ranking explanations are general commentary, not legal, financial, tax, medical or security advice for your situation.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. If you are a consumer, you keep the statutory rights your country gives you, and nothing here overrides them.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, lost goodwill or business interruption, however caused and on any theory of liability.
We are not liable for any loss arising from: a product you found through the site; a transaction with a maker; anything a user posted; unauthorised access to your account; or your reliance on any information here.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty pounds sterling. As we do not currently charge for the site, that will usually be the latter.
These limits apply even if we were advised of the possibility of the loss, and even if a limited remedy fails of its essential purpose.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vuru and its operators against any claim, demand, loss, liability, cost or expense — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of or connected with: content you submitted; your use of the site; your breach of these terms or of any law; or your infringement of anybody's rights.
We may assume the exclusive defence and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, at your expense, and you agree to cooperate with that defence.
15. Copyright complaints
If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, send us a notice as described on our Copyright and DMCA page. It sets out what a valid notice must contain, how we respond, and how the person who posted the material can file a counter-notice.
We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
Do not send a takedown notice for material you know is not infringing. Misrepresenting infringement can make you liable for the costs and damages it causes.
16. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access, remove your content, or close your account at any time if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your conduct risks harm to other users, to a third party or to us.
Where it is practical and lawful to do so we will tell you why, and where a decision was made in error we will reverse it on request.
You may stop using the site at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination do survive it — including the licence you granted for content that remains published, the disclaimers, the limitation of liability, the indemnity and the governing law provisions.
17. Governing law and disputes
These terms and any dispute arising out of them or the site are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also bring proceedings in your country of residence, and you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law there.
Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at hello@vuru.online. Most disputes can be resolved quickly by an email to a person who can act on it.
18. International use
We operate this site from one place and make no representation that its content is appropriate or available elsewhere. If you use it from another country, you are responsible for complying with the law that applies to you.
You may not use the site in breach of applicable export control or sanctions law, and you confirm you are not located in a territory subject to comprehensive sanctions and are not on any restricted-party list.
19. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the site or the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised.
For material changes we will give reasonable notice on the site before they take effect. If you do not accept a revised version, your remedy is to stop using the site and close your account.
20. General
These terms, together with the policies they refer to, are the entire agreement between you and us about the site, and replace any earlier understanding.
If any provision is held unenforceable, it is severed or narrowed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
You may not assign or transfer these terms without our written consent. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
Nothing here creates a partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship between us, and there are no third-party beneficiaries.

This page is a plain-language starting point written for how this site actually behaves. It is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by a qualified lawyer. Before relying on it commercially, have counsel check it against your circumstances and jurisdiction — the governing-law and liability sections in particular need to match your real entity and location.
